Important Announcement for
recruitment to the post Excise Constable / Lady Excise Constable in West
Bengal – 2013.
The last date of distribution of
Application Form for recruitment to the post of Excise Constable / Lady
Excise Constable is extended till 06/03/2013 and that
for receipt of filled up application forms till 07/03/2013 in
respect of candidates from
Malda District only.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION:- Full Marks -90
Those who qualify in PMT and PET will
be asked to appear in Written Examination. The Written Examination will be
conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The
Written Examination will have objective type questions (MCQ) on General Awareness
and General Knowledge, English, Elementary Mathematics and Reasoning. The
candidates will have to fill up the correct blank spaces against a
question number on the machine readable OMR answer sheet.

B) English:- Full Marks-25
(Appropriate use of article and
preposition; nominal compound; use of verbs; verbs with – ing /ed /en
suffixes and their use; gerunds; use of proper form of verbs; main clause and dependent
clause; use of prefixes and suffixes; use of passive voice; complex and compound sentences;
synonyms and antonyms; correct use of words; correction of sentences; use of common
phrases)
C) Elementary Mathematics :- Full
Marks-25
(Fractions and decimal; Mixture;
Average; Square root; Percentage; Profit and Loss; Interest Simple and
Compound ; Uniform Rate of Growth; Simple equations Solution of
Linear Simultaneous Equation involving two unknowns and Quadratic
Equation; Problems based on Ratio, Proportion and Variation Direct and
Inverse, Basic theorems on triangles and circles; Perimeter and area of
rectangle and circle; surface area and volume of (i) a right circular cylinder
(ii) a right circular cone (iii) a sphere).
D) Reasoning:- Full Marks-15
The Reasoning Test will aim to
evaluate the candidate’s ability of logical understanding,
comparison skills and ability to
think and answer.
The questions may include problems on
coding and decoding; alphabetical and arithmetical series, blood
relation, test of direction, position of a thing in a queue, mirror images,
arrangement of words in a dictionary, grouping of identical figures, analogy,
problems of age calculation etc.
Interview:-Full Marks-10
Those who qualify in the written
test, will be eligible for interview. In the interview, the
general awareness of the candidate will be tested. The interview will be
conducted by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board through Range
Recruitment Boards. A merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will
be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the Written Examination
and interview by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
Appointing Authority:-
(a) Additional Excise Commissioner/
Senior Joint Commissioner / Joint Commissioner/ Deputy
Commissioner of Excise, Headquarters, in respect of the posts under
the Directorate Headquarters;
(b) Additional Excise Commissioner/
Senior Joint Commissioner / Joint Commissioner/ Deputy
Commissioner of Excise, Special, in respect of the posts under the Special
Section at Excise Directorate;
(c) Additional Excise Commissioner/
Senior Joint Commissioner / Joint Commissioner/ Deputy
Commissioner of Excise in charge of the Excise Division in respect of the posts
in the concerned Excise Division and the districts under the
Division.
Miscellaneous:
(a) The Excise Commissioner shall
allot the selected candidates to the different organizations as
per requirement / vacancy and order of preference of Division of the selected candidates.
(b) An Excise Constable or Lady
Excise Constable shall be borne on the establishment where he
or she is posted by the appointing authority. But his/ her seniority for the
purpose of promotion to higher posts shall be determined as
per his/her position in the date-wise gradation list of
Excise Constable or Lady Excise Constable maintained by the Excise Commissioner,
West Bengal.
(c) The Excise Commissioner, West
Bengal, shall have the power to transfer an Excise Constable
or Lady Excise Constable from one establishment to another. The officer under whose
establishment the Excise Constable or Lady Excise Constable is so transferred shall be
deemed to be the appointing authority or the later.
Verification Of Antecedents:-
All provisionally selected candidates
will be required to fill up a Verification Roll which will be thoroughly
enquired into by the concerned authority.
Medical Examination:-
The selected candidates will be
called for a medical examination at the State Government designated
Hospitals. The certificate of medical fitness will be issued by authorized
Medical Officer.
