SPECIAL
CLASS RAILWAY APPRENTICES IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPTT.
Educational
Qualification: First or second division in Class
12th or equivalent with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics
and Chemistry as subject of the examination.
Candidates who have Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects may also apply.
OR
First or second division in the Higher Secondary Examination with mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subject of the examination.
OR
Must have passed the first year Examination under the three-year degree course of a University or the first examination of the three year diploma course in Rural Service of the National Council for Rural Higher Education or the third year Examination for promotion to the 4th year of four-year B.A./B. Sc. (Evening College) Course of the Madras University with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subject of the examination provided that before joining the degree/diploma course he passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or equivalent Examination in the first or second division. Candidates who have passed the first/ second year examination under the three-year degree course in the first or second division with Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry as subject of the examination may also apply, provided the first/Second year examination is conducted by a University.
OR
must have pass in the first or second division the Pre-engineering Examination of a University, approved by the Government of India.
OR
Must have passed in the first or second division the Pre-Professional/Pre-Technological Examination of any Indian University or recognized Board with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subject of the examination conducted one year after the Higher Secondary or Pre-University.
OR
Must have passed the first year examination under the five year Engineering Degree Course of a University provided that before joining the Degree Course he passed the Higher Secondary Examination or Pre-University or equivalent examination in the first or second division.
Candidates who have passed the first year Examination of the Five-year Engineering Degree Course in the first or second division may also apply provided the first year examination is conducted by a University.
OR
Must have passed in the first or second division the Pre-Degree Examination of the Universities of Kerala and Calicut with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subject of the examination.
Candidates who have Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects may also apply.

Note: Diplomas in Engineering awarded
by the State Board of Technical Education are not acceptable for admission to
the Special Class Railway Apprentice’ Examination.

Age
Limit: Minimum 17 years to Maximum 21 years i.e. he must have been born
not earlier than 2nd January, 1994 and not later than 1st January, 1998.
The age will be counted as on 01.01.2015. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST – 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; PWD- 10yrs; and Others, if any – As per Govt. norms.

Physical
Standards:
For Men— (i) Height— 152cms (ii) Chest (fully expanded/expansion)—79cm/5cm (iii) Eye—6/6 or 6/9.
For Female— (i) Height— 150cms (ii) Chest (fully expanded/expansion)—74cm/5cm (iii) Eye—6/6 or 6/9.
For Men— (i) Height— 152cms (ii) Chest (fully expanded/expansion)—79cm/5cm (iii) Eye—6/6 or 6/9.
For Female— (i) Height— 150cms (ii) Chest (fully expanded/expansion)—74cm/5cm (iii) Eye—6/6 or 6/9.
The minimum height will be relaxed in case of candidate
belonging to Scheduled Tribes and to race such as Gorkhas, Garhwalees,
Assamese, Nagaland Tribes, etc. See officially released advertisement for more

Stipend
during Training period of 04 years: The apprentices will be granted a
stipend of Rs. 9,100/- per month during the 1st & 2nd years and Rs. 9,400/-
per month during the 3rd year & first six months of 4th year and Rs.
9,700/- for last six months of fourth year.
After successful completion of 4 years apprenticeship the
apprentices will be appointed as probationers in the Indian Railways Service of
Mechanical Engineers.
Mode
of Selection: Selection of the candidates will
be through Written Examination, Interview Test/Personality Test and Medical
Test.
